Homemade Teriyaki Sauce or Marinade

I have always wanted to make my own teriyaki sauce, and now I have the perfect recipe, adapted from Our Best Bites. You will need this recipe for the next post on Bacon-Wrapped Chicken Teriyaki Skewers.

Teriyaki Sauce/Marinade
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 Tbsp. cold water
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup honey
½ cup soy sauce
¼ cup cider vinegar
1 clove garlic, minced
½ tsp. ground ginger
¼ tsp. black pepper

Directions:
In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. While sauce is heating, combine cornstarch and cold water. When sauce comes to a full boil, add cornstarch mixture and stir until sauce is thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat and use immediately (once slightly cooled),or store in the fridge in an air-tight container for up to 2 weeks. And now you know how to make homemade teriyaki sauce or marinade!

  1. Okay, just so you know, I've made this three times since you posted it, and every time my husband tells me it is the best chicken he's ever had. Thank you for making me look like I know what I'm doing in the kitchen. ;)
