Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats

There seems to be a mild obsession with cake batter lately. I am not totally buying into the craze, as I am not a cake lover, BUT these rice krispie treats with cake batter are pretty good. You can definitely taste the cake batter, and don't they look pretty with all those sprinkles? Kids love sprinkles. You can use any kind of sprinkles you like, but I think the more colorful, the better.
Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats
recipe from gimme some oven
Ingredients:
3 Tablespoons butter
1 (10 oz.) bag of mini-marshmallows
1/4 to 1/3 cup yellow cake mix
6 cups crispy rice cereal
1 (1.75 oz.) container of sprinkles

Directions: Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows. Stir until they begin to melt, adding in cake mix one spoonful at a time so its combined. Stir in cereal so it is completely coated with marshmallow mixture. Sprinkle in half of the sprinkles and mix. Press into a 9 by 13 baking dish.Top with remaining sprinkles. Let sit for about 30 minutes before cutting. To help cut them, spray a knife with nonstick spray.
Don't those look pretty? They tasted great and were enjoyed by adults and kids alike.
Have a great weekend!

  2. Those ARE so pretty. I've never thought to put sprinkles in rice krispies, but I bet even without the cake mix they would be special that way. I'm pinning this on my 'party' board. Thanks :)
